triOS Students Help Kids get Back to School

triOS students held a barbeque where they encouraged attendees to bring school supplies for the less fortunate.  It was a tremendous success bringing in over 300 school supplies!  Congrats triOS students on our efforts to help out the community and improve the lives of those in need.

Grandparents Involved Full Time Community Program

Nancy McSloy (Community Services Worker student from our London campus) started a phenomenal community program.  Nancy gained custody of her grandson when he was 18 months old. She searched for support groups or workshops for grandparents raising their grandchildren.  However her search was fruitless. Nancy therefore decided that it was time to help other grandparents.  She started the local chapter of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.  This chapter was partnered with a local Ontario Early Years Centre where she designed a series of workshops for Grandparents Involved Full Time (G.I.F.T.S.). The workshops have been so well received that they have ended up facilitating several groups across the community.

London Speaks-out for CanVoice

London Community Services Worker (CSW) students put on a beautiful barbeque in support of a local charity.  The charity is called CanVoice and it is a consumer driven organization for individuals with mental illness.  The barbeque was an amazing opportunity for CSW students to put what they have learned in the classroom into practice.

Golf Tournament with Dalton McGuinty!

triOS Career Services participated as a hole sponsor for the 2010 GTA/Central Golf Tournament with the Hon. Dalton McGuinty!  This was a great opportunity to network with employers to get our amazing students out into the workforce.  Here is a picture of Dalton McGunity with our Director of Career Services Wendy Callaghan.

triOS College Skates for Haiti

On Saturday March 6th the triOS Brampton campus came through with astounding success and raised over $2800 to benefit the Canadian Red Cross.  Students and staff collected pledges and invited the community to participate at the Gage Park skating rink. Activities proceeded despite the spring-like weather with highlights including a silent auction, Flow 93.5 broadcasting live, a princess and a magician that entertained the crowds, and participants forming a human chain around the rink with a minute of silence for victims of the earthquake.

The event was a great success and we could not have done it without all those that participated and supported us.
