December 13th, 2019 / By triOS College

triOS College has just started the first group of students in their newest comprehensive diploma program in Supply Chain and Logistics at their Mississauga campus. The program is also offered at the London, Kitchener, Brampton, Hamilton, and Toronto campuses. The launch of this program means that capable interns will be available for area companies in the coming months. Many have realized the benefits of student interns and have already agreed to host them.

Upon launching this program, companies in the area will be able to hire capable interns in the coming months. An internship program will allow companies to work with highly qualified and skilled individuals.

“We have been overwhelmed with responses from local companies who support our program. SCI Logistics and DB Schenker are among the many that have confirmed that they would like to host interns once they are available. A student intern can prove to be an extremely valuable asset to any company. These interns want to work in the supply chain and logistics industry, and are motivated to show employers what they have to offer,” said Uzma Bhatti, triOS College Mississauga Career Services Consultant/Internship Coordinator.

Companies will have the opportunity to work with highly educated and skilled individuals over a four month internship period. A student intern can contribute to the daily routine of the workplace and provide a fresh perspective about challenges that can lead to new ideas and creative solutions.

When triOS College set out to create this program, they collaborated with the key players in this sector to ensure that all the appropriate components were present within their curriculum. “triOS College is working to meet challenges by introducing an opportunity for individuals to step into the roles that companies need to fill. Working with multiple associations within the sector, triOS has developed a program that provides industry supported learning. triOS students will be shown the right tools and techniques to fill the jobs that companies need most. triOS is leading the way for individuals to take charge of, and develop, their own careers to meet the needs of companies, the Supply Chain Sector, and Canada,” said Rick Cleveland, Director of Programs at The Logistics Institute and President of Altered Perspectives.

Working with The Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council, The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, The Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation, and The Logistics Institute, triOS graduates will be well prepared for the workforce.
With a predicted vacancy rate of over 80,000 jobs a year due to retirement and turnover, the triOS program is launching at an ideal time. triOS offers five programs including: Supply Chain & Logistics plus Internship, Supply Chain & Logistics, Supply Chain Purchasing & Inventory Management, Supply Chain Transportation, and Supply Chain Customer Service Representative. Students will study Microsoft Office Applications, Introduction to Supply Chain and Logistics, Supply Chain Purchasing and Inventory Management and Supply Chain Transportation. Successful graduates of triOS will also receive a certificate from the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA).
