FREE TRAINING TO BECOME A PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
Together with Mill Creek Care Centre, Sienna Living - Woods Park Care Centre, Victoria Village, and Sienna Living - Owen Hill Care Community, triOS College wants to help you get your Personal Support Worker certificate at no cost to you with special grant funding provided through the Canada Ontario Job Grant program. Training will be provided in Barrie, Ontario and there will be 25 spots available for immediate employment after successfully passing the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) exam.
Sponsored candidates will be selected by passing admissions assessments, meeting the admission requirements and having an interview with any of our partners: Mill Creek Care Centre, Sienna Living - Woods Park Care Centre, Victoria Village, or Sienna Living - Owen Hill Care Community.

THE PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER PROGRAM AT triOS
Success in today’s healthcare world depends on having well trained employees who can multi-task to meet a variety of challenges. The triOS Personal Support Worker program has been designed to provide students with all of the administrative and clinical knowledge and skills required for employment as a Personal Support Worker.
The Personal Support Worker program enables you to develop skills required to provide personal support services to patients and their families, clients, and residents in the community, at home, in hospitals and in long-term care facilities. Services provided by the PSW include assistance in routine daily living activities; mobility; personal care and hygiene; ongoing medical conditions; and management of household activities.
• National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) curriculum that maps to the Ontario Provincial approved training standard
• Classroom in a real-world healthcare setting, on-site at a long-term care facility that includes hospital beds, wheel chairs and other required equipment
• Clinical work placement in a long-term care facility
• Microsoft Office, Microsoft Imagine Standard and Windows are included in the program fees
WHAT IS THE CANADA ONTARIO JOB GRANT PROGRAM?
The Canada Ontario Job Grant is a training initiative that the government put together that helps companies who have a particular skills demand to invest in training for new hires or existing staff within their organization.
After completing your Personal Support Worker program and successfully passing the NACC exam, you will have the opportunity to become employed at either Stayner Care Centre or Mill Creek Care Centre and begin your career working in the healthcare sector.
Mill Creek Care Centre (MCCC) is a charitable, non-profit, Christian home for residents needing LTC living. MCCC Long Term Care Home is located within Tollendale Village. Our home is strongly grounded on Christian traditions and principles, while welcoming residents of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs. Mill Creek Care Centre is home to 160 residents. Our home has 5 Resident Home Areas (RHA) which provides living accommodations for 32 residents on each home area.
It is situated within Tollendale Village at 286 Hurst Drive in Barrie on the south side of Kempenfelt Bay. The Village is in close proximity to the downtown area and is accessible by the municipal bus services.
Sienna Living - Woods Park Care Centre is situated in an attractive residential area in Barrie, overlooking parks and close to Bayfield Street shopping and restaurants. The 123 residents enjoy a variety of wellness activities, programs and services, including a wellness centre, fully-equipped gym, and a multi-faith worship centre. These offer opportunities to build new friendships and pursue new interests. Physiotherapy and restorative care programs, intergenerational programs, and pet therapy are some of the many options available. The large community room, café, lounges, enclosed outdoor patios and courtyards are perfect for resident and family get-togethers.
Victoria Village is a unique community located in the heart of Barrie that offers 57 Life Lease suites, 16 Hybrid Life Lease suites, a 128 Long Term Care facility and commercial space that includes a Sports Medicine clinic, a café, a pharmacy specializing in geriatric care, law office, accounting office and various other community services. Victoria Village is located on the old Royal Victoria Hospital site. When it was determined that Royal Victoria Hospital had outgrown its space, the City of Barrie saw a need to redevelop the property to support the increasing senior population. In 1997, Royal Victoria Hospital moved to its current location and the deed was transferred to the City of Barrie for $1.00.
Sienna Living - Owen Hill Care Community is situated just minutes from Barrie’s downtown core and Kempenfelt Bay. This long-term care community, which opened in 1972, has a charming appeal for its 57 residents. As one of Sienna Senior Living’s smaller homes, the atmosphere created by residents and employees is one of family and community. Knowing each other well provides a sense of connection and support. There is also a variety of activities and programs that engage the residents and offer opportunities to build new friendships and pursue new interests.
