Massive Retiring Workforce Sparks Launch Of New triOS Supply Chain And Logistics Programs

January 3rd, 2011 / By triOS College

The Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council reports that over 750,000 Canadians work in Supply Chain Management, but will face a serious problem as the current workforce approaches retirement age. With perfect timing, triOS College launches their new Supply Chain and Logistics programs in London, Hamilton, Kitchener, Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto in early 2011. As one of the largest employment sectors in Canada, triOS College has dug deep to ensure this is a lucrative job market and the right program to offer those that want to succeed in Canada’s workforce.

As a result of a massive workforce retirement, a new supply chain and logistics program is launched.

triOS has collaborated with the key players in this sector to ensure that all the appropriate components are present within their curriculum. “There is a challenge facing our global supply chain today, and it is multi-dimensional: nations must build a competent labour market capable of sustaining and enhancing competitive leadership in the world; sectors must build a skilled workforce for new economies focused on global trade and the flow of goods, money and information; companies must build competitive bench strength through competent people; and individuals must build competency-based careers as certified professionals.

triOS College is working to meet this challenge by introducing an opportunity for individuals to step into the roles that companies need to fill. Working with multiple associations within the sector, triOS has developed a program that provides industry supported learning. triOS students will be shown the right tools and techniques to fill the jobs that companies need most. triOS is leading the way for individuals to take charge of, and develop, their own careers to meet the needs of companies, the Supply Chain Sector, and Canada,” said Rick Cleveland, Director of Programs at The Logistics Institute and President of Altered Perspectives.

Working with The Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council, The Canadian Society of Customs Brokers, The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, The Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation, and The Logistics Institute, triOS graduates will be well prepared and have a great pool of contacts upon graduation.

Although it is the career that moves our nation, many are unaware of what supply chain management really means and the career opportunities available. Essentially it is how products or services get from the supplier to the customer. Every little aspect of the broccoli farmer getting his vegetables onto your plate from planning, sourcing, coordinating and collaborating is a supply chain effort.

triOS will offer five programs including: Supply Chain & Logistics plus Internship, Supply Chain & Logistics, Supply Chain Purchasing & Inventory Management, Supply Chain Transportation, and Supply Chain Customer Service Representative. The curriculum for these programs will be all encompassing to thoroughly prepare graduate for the workforce. Students will study Microsoft Office Applications, Introduction to Supply Chain and Logistics, Supply Chain Purchasing and Inventory Management and Supply Chain Transportation. Along with the four month internship included in the Supply Chain and Logistics program, successful graduates of triOS will also receive a certificate from the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association.

Upon completion of the triOS program, graduates will have received career management preparation and full access to the Career Services team available at each triOS campus. With industry connections, internship experience and Career Services management tools, graduates of the Supply Chain and Logistics program, will be qualified to alleviate the vacancy rate of over 80,000 jobs a year due to retirement and turnover.
