A New Beginning in Digital Marketing: Madhurima’s Career Change Story
September 16th, 2026 / By Madhurima Gupta
After nearly 10 years working in Animation & Visual Effects, Madhurima Gupta’s career took an unexpected turn when she was laid off from the industry.
During the transition, she worked in restaurant and security roles while considering what she wanted to do next. Eventually, her search led her to the Digital Marketing program at triOS College and a new professional direction.
Why Did You Choose Digital Marketing?
For Madhurima, digital marketing stood out because it brought together two sides of her interests.
“After my layoff, I went through a period where I was trying to figure out what I really wanted to do next. With my background in visual storytelling and my interest and strengths in analytics and mathematics, digital marketing felt like a natural fit for me.”
She was drawn to a field that combines creativity with strategy, technology, data, and business.
“I didn’t feel like I had to completely leave my previous experience behind. I could build on what I already knew while developing a new skill set.”
Why Did You Choose triOS College?
Madhurima’s experience with triOS began before she entered the classroom.
“The program coordinator took the time to understand my interests, background, and career goals before recommending a program that would be a good fit for me. The conversation felt genuinely student-focused.”
What Was Studying Digital Marketing at triOS Like?
Madhurima appreciated the flexibility of the Digital Marketing program’s online format.
“The four-hour online classes worked really well for me because I could continue working full-time while studying. We were also given time during class to work on assignments, which helped me manage my coursework alongside my work schedule.”
The classroom experience also gave her access to perspectives beyond the course material.
“The instructors were knowledgeable and experienced in their fields. They created a friendly environment where it was easy to ask questions and shared useful insights about working in the industry.”
Building Skills in Social Media Marketing, SEO, Advertising and More
Through the Digital Marketing program at triOS College, Madhurima studied social media marketing, content creation, SEO, digital advertising, analytics, campaign planning, and influencer marketing.
Social media marketing was particularly interesting because it introduced a more strategic approach to the creative work she already enjoyed.
“I learned to think about the strategy behind the content — the audience, the platform, the campaign objective, and why we were creating something in the first place.”
Going Beyond the Diploma With Additional Digital Marketing Credentials
The Digital Marketing diploma from triOS College is the formal college credential students earn upon successfully completing the program.
Separate from the triOS diploma, Madhurima was introduced to third-party industry certifications and platform-specific learning opportunities associated with Google Ads, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Hootsuite, Semrush, and LinkedIn Learning. These additional opportunities allowed students to build knowledge of widely used marketing platforms and add relevant credentials that could help strengthen their professional profiles.
Madhurima personally pursued one of these opportunities by completing the Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate by Hootsuite through LinkedIn Learning.
An Accelerated Path Toward the Chartered Marketer Designation
Through triOS College’s partnership with the Canadian Marketing Association, Digital Marketing students have an Accelerated Education Path toward the Chartered Marketer (CM) designation.
The partnership also includes free membership in the CMA NXT platform, with networking access to more than 400 member companies, exclusive eligibility for CMA internships and Brand Ambassador roles, access to up to $2,500 in NXT Fund support for alumni-led initiatives, and 50% off CMA courses, certifications, and industry events.
As a recent Digital Marketing graduate, Madhurima also has access to these newly introduced benefits.
Turning Classroom Learning Into Real Marketing Work
“I really enjoyed assignments based on real-world businesses because we had to think about the audience, business goals, platforms, messaging, and strategy behind our decisions.”
During her internship with triOS College, Madhurima worked on social media content, blog writing, video assets in Canva for Google Ads Performance Max campaigns, and a website audit.
“The internship was where I could actually see the connection between what I had learned and the work being done by a marketing team.”
How Did triOS Help Prepare You for Your Internship?
Through the Career Planning course, Madhurima worked on her resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and interview preparation. She practised interview questions, completed mock interviews with instructors, received feedback, and used interview-practice tools such as Devant.
“What stood out to me was that the support continued throughout the process. The team helped connect me with internship opportunities, supported me with follow-ups, and even checked in after my internship started.”
Looking Back on the Experience
For Madhurima, one of the most meaningful outcomes was seeing how much she had progressed professionally.
“I’m proud of gaining hands-on skills and real industry experience through the program and internship. I’m also proud of how much my resume and career readiness improved.”
What Would You Say to Someone Considering Digital Marketing at triOS?
Madhurima’s advice is simple:
“If Digital Marketing matches your interests and career goals, I would definitely consider it. I enjoyed learning about different areas of digital marketing and having opportunities to put what I learned into practice.”
