Each year the National Association of Career Colleges recognizes a new graduate who successfully completed their program, is currently working in the field in which they were trained for and whose desire for a better future is what all career college students should strive to achieve.

On May 1st, 2015 at the NACC annual conference in St. John’s, our own Andres Perera, a graduate from the triOS Mississauga Campus, was named NACC’s Graduate of the Year.

Andres arrived to Canada in 1993, with a minimum amount of resources to help support his family. His family struggled in making ends meet when first arriving. He always had an interest in working with computers and throughout his time in Canada his passion for gaining knowledge in computers grew stronger. If he won the lottery, one of his goals was to pay for school and study in the field of Information Technology.

In 2012, Andres made the decision to pursue his passion with the support of his family. This was a huge life decision for him as he had not been in a school environment for almost 25 years. After researching many schools, Andres made the choice to attend triOS College.

Andres was a dedicated student and individual. He graduated from the 90-week Information Technology Professional plus Internship Program with perfect attendance records and an overall average in honours (above the 90 percentile).

He was the ideal student and classmate who had an excellent rapport with both staff and his fellow classmates. He was a leader in his class. The other students looked up to Andres as a mentor and a role model. He took charge in group settings. When there were group projects or presentations, Andres would step up and take the role of the group leader. He enjoyed learning and assisting his classmates who were struggling.

Andres would look for new ways to think outside of the box in the classroom. He respected his instructor and ensured that he absorbed all the knowledge that was taught to him. He successfully gained the following IT Certifications within his graduation date: A+ Operating Systems, A+Hardware, Windows7 DeskSupport, CompTIA, Windows Server 2008, Active Directory and Enterprise Security. He ensured that he focused on his class work and at the same time spent long hours studying to complete his vouchers and obtain his certifications.

Andres completed his Internship at MIT Consulting and received rave reviews from the employer due to his professionalism, dedication and work ethic. All his hard work paid off as he now holds the position of Intermediate System Support Analyst at the Scotia Bank Head Office.

Congratulations Andres, all of us at triOS are very proud of you and everything you have accomplished!
