Are you a new Canadian who needs financial assistance to continue or start a new career?

We have partnered with Windmill Microlending, a registered charity offering microloans to help skilled immigrants and refugees continue their careers in Canada.

triOS College provides the opportunity to help change the lives of immigrants and refugees who are internationally educated by offering additional financial assistance to our students when they enrol in our career training programs.

Windmill offers microloans of up to $15,000 so students can obtain the Canadian licensing or training required to continue working in their field. Loans can also be used to cover the cost of books, supplies and other course materials.

Microloan Details

Eligibility

• Loan applicants must be an immigrant and a Permanent Resident, Provincial Nominee, Refugee/Protected Person, or a Canadian citizen.
• You must be living in Canada to apply for a loan from Windmill.
• If you have filed for bankruptcy in Canada, your bankruptcy ends when it is discharged. This means that you are released from your legal obligation to repay the debts covered by your bankruptcy. Applicants with active bankruptcy are not eligible.
• You must have costs associated with a plan to achieve your professional goals, which may include exam fees, skills assessment, retraining, or programs of study that are less than two years.

Refugee Loan Program

Convention Refugees and Protected Persons from anywhere in the world can apply for Windmill’s interest-free Refugee Loan Program, as long as they apply within three years from the time they have obtained refugee status in Canada.

What can loans be used for?

• Education and training programs of two years or less
• Fees for licensing and qualifying exams
• Travel expenses to take courses or write exams which are unavailable in your area
• Assessment of qualifications
• Fees for professional associations
• Books, supplies and other course materials
• Living allowance during study time
• Other costs related to restarting your career may be considered

Funded by the public and private sector, Windmill Microlending is Canada’s largest and most successful microlending program for immigrants and refugees. A microloan from Windmill supports students by helping them afford their training or education plan. On average, students triple their income by the time their loan is repaid.
