    About the workshop

This workshop is all about helping you understand what social media is, why people use it, and how you can use it to stay connected, informed, and entertained.

Social media has become one of the most common ways people share photos, keep up with news, follow hobbies, and stay in touch with family and friends. Sites like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube may seem overwhelming at first, but they are simply tools for connection — and once you learn the basics, they can be both fun and useful.

Over the course of this two-hour session, we will take a look at some of the most popular social media platforms, learn what makes each one unique, and explore how to create and share content. Just as importantly, we will go over how to stay safe online, manage your privacy settings, and avoid scams or unwanted content.

This will be a relaxed, beginner-friendly session. You will see demonstrations, have a chance to ask questions, and even try out a few steps yourself. By the end of the workshop, you will feel more confident about what social media is, how it works, and whether it is something you would like to use in your own life.

    Workshop Price: $50
Special Offer: CARP members receive a 10% discount.
